Visit Botahtaung Pagoda at the bank of Yangon River. In the compound, there is a famous shrine of Mya Nan Nwe who is the spirit of a Shan and Bamar royal descendant. She contributed to religious works, including the rebuilding of the Botahtaung Pagoda after its destruction during World War II. After her death in 1957, she became revered by followers, for her ability to grant wishes to those who appealed to her help. The shrine attracts 700 worshippers per day, and between 1,000 and 3,000 worshippers on weekends, including many Thai devotees, donate offertories and also to ask for blessing of the sister.
