Day – 1: Arrival Yangon (L,D)

yangon-10Arrive at Yangon International Airport. Meet and greet our experienced guide. Transfer to hotel. After refreshment, sightseeing begins from City Center – City Hall. Visit colonial style building. We'll explore the downtown area, where the ghost of the British Colonial influence still prevails From there we will visit the (64m) long massive reclining Buddha at Chaukhtagyi Paya. Lunch at a local restaurant. Late afternoon visit to most revered and most famous landmark, one of the World's wonder "Shwedagon Pagoda " at dusk, as the Sun begins to fall over the City. Dinner at local restaurant. Overnight at hotel in Yangon.


Day 02 : Yangon – Mawlamying (car, bike) ( L , D )

mawlamyine-06After breakfast, pick up you at your hotel and drive to Bago which about 80km far away from Yangon. Arrive at Bago. Start cycling to Mawlamyine. Lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch continue cycling to Mawlamyine. Mawlamying, known as Molmein in the British times, is the 3rd largest city in Myanmar and situated in the south of Myanmar. It is about 6 to 7 hours to go by car. To arrange the cycling tour(with Mountain Bikes!!!), On the way to Mawlamyine  bike about 75km. Evening arrive at Mawlamyine. Dinner at local Restaurant. Overnight at the hotel in Mawlamying. (cycling distance-75km)


Day 03 : Mawlamying Cycling to Belu Island-Mawlamyine  (boat, bike) (B,L,D)

mawlamyine-07After breakfast, cycling to Jetty from your hotel, just a few minutes. Then take a ferry boat approximately 45 minutes to the jetty of Bilu Island or Ogre Island(you won’t meet Ogres there!!). Once you disembark, you mount the bike and you will be meeting firstly with the old Chevrolet at the jetty that still serve for transportation. some activities on the island during the Mountain bike cycling excursion; After excursion making a loop on the island, you can see the local ways of life and nature of village life, and you can learn how to earn their living. You can enjoy beautiful natural scenic. Lunch at a local restaurant. you will be back at the same jetty to transfer the same way back to Mawlamying. Take rest at the hotel. Evening take a walk to Strand Road and enjoy night life. Overnight at the hotel in Mawlamying. (cycling distance- 65km)


Day 04: Mawlamyine-U Na Oak Village-Hpa-An ( B , L , D )


After breakfast, cycling tour will take you to the most beautiful(but few people know it, indeed!!!) Monastery Complex built and donated by the Colonial-Era Burmese Merchant, called U Na Oak. To reach the village, you will have to cross by the bridge over two rivers called Gyaing and Attran rivers. You may visit Pomelo Orchards on the way to Kado Village where you will see the best Glass Mosaic decorations and Teak Wooden Buddha Images. The monastery is donated by a Myanmar Well-Known Teak Merchant, U Na Oak. We used to learn about his patriotic battle in terms of inland water transport business against the then Irrawaddy Floatilla Company in the British times. Walk around the monastery complex, take the pictures of the amazing wood-carvings decorated on the inner walls of the monastic buildings. Sometimes, you will see the European pillar pedestals at some of the buildings.

Cycling to Pha-an, the capital city of Kayin State, one of the ethnic majority, is worth a lot. Surrounding the city are the Natural Lime-stone Caves, Hot Springs, Pagodas & Temples, the Thanlwin(Salween River) with Natural beauty with Clear Water for a pleasant boat trip, and many more. Visit Saddan cave. Lunch at local restaurant. Late afternoon arrive at Hpaan. Check in hotel and take rest at the hotel for a while. Evening before dinner take a tour to down town and enjoy dinner. Overnight at the hotel in Hpaan. (Cycling distance -75km)


Day 05 : Hpa–An Sightseeing (bike) ( B , L,D )

hpaan03Cycling excursion for today, we will make along the motorway but not very busy with trucks and car. All the way, you can enjoy the beauty and nature of the countryside. On the cycling route, you may drop in at the Kyauk Ka Lat Monastery which is surrounded by the water of the natural lake and the name of the monastery derives the Lime-stone column that is jetting out into the sky. 20 minutes Cycling from that monastery will take you to Kant Kaw Ta Htaung, one-thousand Buddhas sitting under the Kant Kaw Trees. That Buddha Complex is located just at the foot of Mt. Zwekabin, the symbol of Kayin State.  Lunch and dinner at local restaurant. Overnight at the hotel in Hpaan. (cycling distance-40km


Day 06 : Pha-an to Yangon (car,bike) ( B , L, D )

After breakfast, cycling way back to Yangon. On the way, you can visit the Kawkun Cave which have many Buddha statues on the wall since 13 century AD. And then continue cycling to Mudon. Lunch at a local restaurant. After that drive back direct to Yangon. Evening arrive at Yangon. Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight at the hotel in Yangon. (cycling distance- 65km)


Day 07:  Yangon Departure (B)

After breakfast, free and leisure before your departure flight time. After that transfer to airport for your international departure.

Just for your info the hotel in Mandalay should not be used for a certain time because they are building a new part of the hotel and it surely will be very noisy the next months....

Our 14 day trip in Myanmar was fabulous. Mandalay Holidays listened to what we were asking for. We always travel on our own but this trip was in 5 different cities from mountains to the lake and then the beach. We knew that we needed assistance for the trip as Myanmar is just developing in tourism and most of things like in-country flight options are pretty restricted. Traveling to and around Myanmar is not necessarily as convenient as in other countries. MH helped us with everything from soup to nuts. They handled every single details perfectly starting from air tickets, ferry tickets, rental cars, hotels, private boat excursions, just to name a few. It would have been incredibly time- consuming trying to do everything ourselves. MH made our lives easier.

They also got nice partners everywhere we hit. During 4 day boat trip in Inle Lake which is in remote area of the country, my stomach had a little problem and needed ORS powder. The boat driver, U Pa Soe, tried his best to bring me to get a professional treatment which was absolutely hard to do there. First he brought me to the community hospital but the doctor was not on duty. He then arranged me to see the only nurse of that village but unluckily she just had pills not fit to my symptoms (but I got full attention and sympathy of her family members instead ;) ). In the gloomy sky and very cold weather, he managed to hop me from village to village until I finally found what I want. So impressive!
Since then MH is our best choice for exploring Myanmar many times. Just give them our interests and leave it to them!

As you know, Axiata Group Board of Directors had chosen Myanmar as the location for their last Board of Directors Meeting in 2014 and the board meeting included tours of Yangon and Bagan. The event went well and has just successfully concluded.
