One of the best ways to see Myanmar is by gliding down its legendary river, the Ayeyarwaddy (Irrawaddy), aboard a superbly appointed luxury river cruiser, the ''Road To Mandalay''. A journey on Myanmar lifeline Ayeyarwaddy is one of the greatest travel experiences. RV Pandaw was built in Scotland on the Clyde by the famous ships builder Yarrow & Co on 1947 with the same design of the pre-war Quarter Wheeler steamers of the Irrawaddy Flotilla Company. After being boarded up in order to protect her from the sea waves, she left Scotland for the delivery voyage to Burma on the 1950. On the 12th January 1951 she started to serve the Inland Water Transport (Irrawaddy Flotilla was nationalized on the 1st of June 1948) on the route Mandalay- Bhamo for both cargo and passenger transportation. In the 1998 she was hired from Inland Water Transport and converted into a 16 cabins luxurious river cruise vessel by the Historian Mr. Paul Strachan and his wife, who is also the founder of the revived Irrawaddy Flotilla Company. After 5 successful years of cultural cruises operations in the Irrawaddy and Chindwin rivers of Myanmar, IFC decided to not renew the charter contract with IWT anymore because the Old Lady Rv Pandaw needed some major repairs and refitting, an investment that IFC probably deemed not convenient as they have already built two bigger new Pandaw replicas with higher passenger capacity.

In the second half of the 2003 Interconnection Co. Ltd signed the charter agreement with IWT and the Pandaw underwent to major renovations in the Marine Side at the Yangon Dhala Dockyards. As far as the Hotel side is concerned new furniture has been specially designed and new Food and Beverage equipment have been bought.

Dear May,

My turn to wish you and your team all the very best for 2016.

I take this opportunity to thank you for all the arrangements you made for us in Myammar, especially in having appointed Bobo as a guide, he is great.
Just for your info the hotel in Mandalay should not be used for a certain time because they are building a new part of the hotel and it surely will be very noisy the next months....

I keep your contacts ,first to give them to friends if they wish to travel in Myramar, they surely can contact you directly, and also for myself as I intend to return toThandwe to the beach and will need you help for flights etc.

All the best and kind regards

Hi May

Please take a look at the attached. Let me know if anything confusing.

"Thitsar" is me .

Our 14 day trip in Myanmar was fabulous. Mandalay Holidays listened to what we were asking for. We always travel on our own but this trip was in 5 different cities from mountains to the lake and then the beach. We knew that we needed assistance for the trip as Myanmar is just developing in tourism and most of things like in-country flight options are pretty restricted. Traveling to and around Myanmar is not necessarily as convenient as in other countries. MH helped us with everything from soup to nuts. They handled every single details perfectly starting from air tickets, ferry tickets, rental cars, hotels, private boat excursions, just to name a few. It would have been incredibly time- consuming trying to do everything ourselves. MH made our lives easier.

They also got nice partners everywhere we hit. During 4 day boat trip in Inle Lake which is in remote area of the country, my stomach had a little problem and needed ORS powder. The boat driver, U Pa Soe, tried his best to bring me to get a professional treatment which was absolutely hard to do there. First he brought me to the community hospital but the doctor was not on duty. He then arranged me to see the only nurse of that village but unluckily she just had pills not fit to my symptoms (but I got full attention and sympathy of her family members instead ;) ). In the gloomy sky and very cold weather, he managed to hop me from village to village until I finally found what I want. So impressive!
Since then MH is our best choice for exploring Myanmar many times. Just give them our interests and leave it to them!

Dear Adam,
Axiata Group Board of Directors Meeting, Myanmar 20-24 Nov
As you know, Axiata Group Board of Directors had chosen Myanmar as the location for their last Board of Directors Meeting in 2014 and the board meeting included tours of Yangon and Bagan. The event went well and has just successfully concluded. The Board of Directors and I are very pleased with the services rendered by MANDALAY HOLIDAYS during our stay and I would like to convey our appreciation to your team headed by Ms. May Oo Thaw who worked very hard to ensure we had a safe and comfortable stay.

My team informed me that it has been very challenging to put this event together as November is peak season over there in Myanmar and we did trouble you with some last minute changes and demands for only the best for our Board of Directors. Nevertheless, MANDALAY HOLIDAYS had responded in the most efficient manner and delivered beyond our expectation.

Ms. May has been very diligent and hands on in managing this event and had assembled a team of experienced people, particularly. A few of the board members are already planning a return trip to Bagan on their own and I’m sure they’ll be more than happy to use the services of MANDALAY HOLIDAYS. Special thanks to May, Steven and Banya for their dedication and to you for facilitating a successful meeting and a memorable of Myanmar.

Warmest regards,

Dato Sri Jamaludin Ibrahim
