Chin State belongs to the western hill system of Myanmar lying form North to South, 13,907 square miles and practically there is no plain nor table land in Chin State. Prominent hill ranges in Chin State are Laitha Toung hill ranges, Inbokalan Taung hill range, Yaunkalan Taung hill range which ran between the Chindwin and Manipore rivers.
Chins, other union nationalities have five ethnic branches. Majority of Chins are Buddhist. Taung Zalet (rhododendron) trees which bloom cordially in early winter are one of the natural beauties of Chin State. Simple and frank chins regard great hornbill bird as the model for loyalty. The beauty of mist filled Teetain as well as the entire land of rhododendron flowers heartly welcome the union kids and kins.
Mt. Victoria is unique spot for eco-friendly people. The Chin hills, never been opened to Tourists. It is full of natural beauties, high mountains with various kinds of forests. The Chin hill is rich with flora & fauna. The most well-known flower of the region is Rhado-Deudron arboretum.The Chin hills is notable for Nat Ma Taung rising to a height of 3055 meters above sea level, lies in Kan-Pat-Let Township. Looking at the people of Chin Hills "Tattoo faced" Chin women and "Naga" on the native of Chin States. They live along the long range of Chin Hills from North to South.The Chin State is notable for numbers of rare birds and endemic birds spices.The National Park is believed to be one of the largest and best reserved resort type remaining with Chin States.
Mindat is situated in the Southern part of Chin Hills, built in line along the edge of mountain side. Mindat is located at 4,860 feet above the sea level. Tall pine trees line the approaching road while distant mountains shadows the town. The township is 33 miles wide in east-west and 37 miles north-south. It has the total area of over 1,219 square miles. Mindat is simple and charming town in Chin Hill. Visitor can see the small, beautiful wooden houses with scenic backdrop along the main road.
Kanpetlet is the most beautiful town in the Chin Hills. Population is also very small compared to other towns with a population of only around 2,000. The town is just about 50 miles away from Mindat, and only 12 miles away from Saw from Yaw region. It is built on the slope of the mountain, with large mountains overshadowing the little town. The scene from the town is very beautiful, especially before the sunset. During winter, the mountains are covered in thick fog, transforming the whole town into a small paradise.
Most people in Kanpetlet are Chin, but there are now a large number of people from Yaw region, mostly from Saw, migrating to Kanpetlet. However, this is a very good place to observe the Chin traditional way of life. People are still living in the same way hundreds of years ago, even in nearby villages which are not difficult to go. This is also a very nice place to do trekking. There is the famous Mount Victoria with Natmataung (Khawnuthom) National Park which is the largest wildlife sanctuary in Myanmar. It is also where hundreds of species of flowers, plants insects and animals live.
